More paint on models

So again I have found the inclination and time to put paint to my models. Now i'm not doing anything spectacular with them, I am just trying to get them up to a reasonable tabletop standard.

Firstly my battlewagon is getting some attention. I have given it the classic 'red' paintjob that orks love as I want it to be part of my Kult of Speed.

This paintjob was quick and easy with 4 drybrush layers. 2 where of scab red and the last 2 where of blood red. I do plan some final highlights, but they will be done once I have the other areas base coated.

The following is where I am at with my Kommando's. I wnet for a colour scheme that almost matched my imperial guard army. Again I have just got a few coats on them, but I am happy with the progress.

Here is where I am at with Snikrot. The camera doesnt show the details, but again I am just using my phone for taking these.

Now on to what I am most pleased about.

I have managed to get back in the mood for doing my Imperial Guard. I have been doing some work on my Valkyrie, but I have left it at a friends so no pics unfortunately.

I decided to do some more work with my command squad. The only things I have left now are to finish off the banner and to do some final highlights on the weapons and metallics.

As you can see I decided to go for an Inyandun Sun stripe as their platoon markings, which is also carried over to the flag as well. This should help to keep the army looking more coherent.

The following is my first completed basic trooper. I have a lot that just need their bases done to finish, but this just gives you an idea of where I am going. As you can see he has a different helmet from the command squad, but the fluff I am writing indicates that only the 'inportan' groups get the good anti virus/bacteria gear and the troops get the older stuff.

Oh I also found my good camera last night so I can see a photo fest taking place!

Working on everything

So i'm sill here and believe it or not I am actually painting.

I have been working on so many different things at the moemnt that its hard to keep track but the way I see it... i'm working on them!

I have been having problems locating my good camera, so this post wont be full of wonderful pictures to go with each step, but I did manage to grab a couple of cack photos with my phone.

Firstly a list of what I have been working on:

IMPERIAL GUARD
Troops 1 - 10 man squad, built, undercoated and base colours.
Troops 2 - 10 man squad built and undercoated.
Heavy Support - 3 teams built and undercoated.

SPACE ORKS
Stompa - Built
Character's (all except mad doc grotsnik & Snikrot) - Built.
Snikrot - Built, undercoated and half painted (I know, shock horror!).
Battlewagon - Built, undercoated and half painted (I must be ill).
Kommado's - Built, undercoated and half painted (I really must be ill!).
All other ork purchases including bikes, storm boys, 2 black reach lots and various others - Built & half undercoated.

ELDAR
Seer Council - Half built/half dry fitted

The seer council is one of the units that is going to take time to complete. I plan to have the Farseer and Warlocks magnetised on to a base which holds a jetbike. This will allow me to use them as mounted, but it will also allow me to reattch them magnetically to a basic base so that they can be on foot.

I will take some pictures of the other models talked about in this post and get them added at a later date! (just need to find that elusive camera, or borrow a mates)

So I got my Tyranid's early this week and decided to start building them. I started off with some Gargoyles which are awesome new models and they fit together so well. I built 5 of them for now and plan to do the other 5 at some point when I have more time.


Next up I decided to build the Trygon in a Trygon prime configuration. I must say this is quite possibly the easiest GW model I have put together. It was an absolute pleasure to build from start to finish and there are so many options available for it as well.

Out of focus Ravener, again very nice model with stupid amounts of options and it also appears to be taller than the old metal one as well.

Some Kommando's I bought. I really like painting orks so these may end up painted very soon.

My converted Eldar Dreadnought. I decided that the standard walking pose looked naff, so a little bit of hacking and greystuff here and there and I have this pose.

I must admit, I am quite pleased with it.

Again, apologies for the quality, phone camera with crappy living room light and this is the outcome, but at least you can see the randomness of my modelling addiction.

Not really been commited to any one army of late so have been doing some bits and pieces here and there. Above is some of the models I have been converting/working on. Apologies for the quality, the photos where taken with my phone.

Small Update

I have decided again to have a brief mix-up from my two primary armies by adding to my pre-existing eldar army. So yesterday I went out and purchase a box of the new Dire Avenger models to see how they differ from my older models.

I must admit that they are quite impressive. a nice number of bits and with a littlecutting here and there, they can be made into some quite impressive models that look as graceful and as swift as eldar are supposed to be.

The following 2 pictures are of my 2 Dire Avenger Exarchs I quickly mashed together.

the following are two models I am really chuffed I managed to pick up from ebay. They are both made by Ronin miniatures and are their (unnoficial) yet strikingly acurate renditions of Sanguinius and Magnus the Red.

Both: Notice how big Magnus is compared to poor wee Sanguinius. Saying that, Magnus was supposed to be a Cyclopean giant of tremedous size dwarfing even the emperor, so as far as I am concerned, he is spot on.

All I can say is that these two models are tasty! They really do both look the part. I cannot wait to get Sanguinius painted and I have promise myself that when I get my first 1500pts worth of either my Blood Angels or my Imperial Guard finished completely, I will give my self the privalige of starting my pre-heresy Thousand Sons army including Magnus.

Lack of updates

Sorry for the lack of updates.

I have been busy doing stuff with my Blood Angels and prepping a big gaming board in my friends basement gaming room. It has involved many 40k scenery sets, a Realm of Battle Gaming board and MDF and Styrofoam with a hot wire cutter to boot. So far we almost have 7 tiles just needing a lick of paint and all the buildings are needing is some thin MDF bases and then a quick texture/rubble and a lick of paint.

My Bangles are looking good points wise. I have more than my bare minimum sitting including 2 assault squads, 2 devastator squads, 2 tacticals, 3 dreadnaughts, 1 scout squad with sniper rifles, 1 demolisher, 2 tech marines with thunderfire cannons, an honour guard with jump packs and a standard commander, but I also have commnader Dante on his way as well.

to top all of this off, I have also managed to bag me one of the limited edition (only 500) Sanguinius models that were made. (I also bagged me a limited edition (500) Magnus the Red model as well :) )


As for my Imperial Guard - They are on a temporary hiaitus at the moment. They are fairly labour intensive when it comes to building and painting due to the number of them, so in the interim I will be working with the Marines to learn how to play the game properly again.

I will get some pics taken of the board so far with the scenery on it so you can at least get a look at where my time has been spent (appart from an intensive driving course which I passed :D )

Bangle's ahoy!

Seeing the new shiney Space Hulk model's I took it upon myself to have a go at painting a Blood Angel up using the paint suggestions in the new White Dwarf magazine.

I must admit I was fairly surprsied with the outcome. I have posted two pictures below, one is without flash and the next is with the flash. Now looking at these, I realise how much better pics will look with a porper light box, so I am going to make one over the next few weeks.
The one on the right is probably closest to what the model looks like, however it is showing imperfections that are not apparent in real life, so its kinda strange. Anyhow's I have some proper troops to test it out on including some assault squads and some heavy weapons teams, so once I get a chance, I will post them here.

For you Imperial Guard fans, fear not, they are still in the pipeline, I am just taking my time with them at present.
